Eliana was a freshman in high school when I first met her. She was a diligent student who worked hard, but despite her best efforts, she was struggling to make passing grades. Her mom brought her to me after a trusted friend suggested that testing for a learning disability might be helpful.
Discovering Her Learning Style
When we began working together, I was surprised at how quickly I was able to identify the area of difference in her learning pattern. I explained to Eliana that her brain was designed and structured a bit differently from what most American educators call “typical.”
This difference was not a flaw or something broken—it was simply the way God created her. Once Eliana understood this, we opened her schoolbooks and explored practical strategies for studying in a way that matched her learning strengths. Together, we practiced until she could confidently approach her studies with her bright, capable mind.
Moving Forward with Confidence
After that, I didn’t see Eliana again professionally. She finished high school successfully, then went on to college. During her early college years, she faced a near-fatal accident. Through much prayer, determination, and therapy, she made an incredible recovery.
Today, Eliana is back on her feet, married, and raising a beautiful baby. She amazes me not only with her resilience, but also with her unwavering faith that God knows how to work with her through the gifts He has given her. She is grateful, happy, and thriving. I am so very proud of her.
