Collaborating with school districts and families to ensure students’ needs are met in public school settings.
Public schools offer strong resources in the area of Special Education. Their expert contributors hold advanced degrees in specialized fields, which can sometimes feel intimidating. Each student is assigned a case manager who coordinates specialists in the areas where your child may require services.
IEP team meetings are highly structured and formal on the school’s end. The school cannot bring additional participants to the meeting without notifying you in advance, and you have the right to approve or decline their attendance. If you accept the invitation paperwork, they interpret that as your approval. However, you are free to bring anyone you choose without prior notice, as you control your child’s privacy rights.
I am here to support you. I am available to attend IEP and other team meetings with you. Beforehand, we will discuss your goals to ensure we are aligned on what you hope to achieve. During the meeting, I will advocate for your child’s needs. As parents, you have the final say—no services or plans can move forward without your consent.
With extensive experience in this setting, I am fluent in the language and processes of Special Education. I can help you navigate discussions, clarify terminology, and ensure you fully understand and feel confident in the decisions being made for your child.
Cost:
My attendance of IEP or other types of team meetings: $150/hour
$150/hour time together to prepare and if you like, after meeting review
Travel fee = $150/hour + gas used
(I can join through Zoom to save us both the travel time and you the money…)
